Relay for Life 2011--"Cancer is smurfin with the wrong people!"

All I can say is what a great experience! I have never participated before and I was really pleased at how well organized it was and how the whole night was symbolic of the determination/struggle of a cancer patient. It begins when it is still bright and sunny--a normal life before the diagnosis. The sun begins to fade--the diagnosis/helplessness. You get a burst of energy around 9--you will fight this cancer and you will win. Then it gets darker and colder and you feel very tired--the chemo/multiple surgeries. It is dark and you are tired and you want to leave--being stuck at the hospital or not able to leave your house. The sun begins to come up--symbolic of winning your battle or going to a better place. I don't know the last time that I walked that long, or felt so tired, but I would do it again anytime!
