She shook every penny out of those two banks.

Proud
As a parent there are so many times that I feel as if I am not teaching my children enough or instilling the right values in them. There is a quote that I have tried to live by lately and it reads "Be careful what you say to your children for it becomes their inner voice." I also believe that what you do in front of your children is who they become either they want to be just like you or they become who they are because they want to be nothing like you. Yesterday after school I got Addi off the bus and went through her book bag to find a note in her binder that said please ask your child what they learned about Hurricane Sandy today and it also said that the school was collecting coins to send to families that lost their home and were living in a particular school right now. I went into Addi's room to ask her about this and she was already busy emptying both of her very full piggy banks "Because she wanted to help the people that lost their house and do something good so they wouldn't feel sad." I told her that she didn't have to give both piggy banks and she said that she wanted to and also asked if I would empty the change out of my purse to help. She proceeded to ask Chad to go to the bank and get money out. She is such a thoughtful sweet little girl and this one kind act erases the thousands of sassy moments she has had. She taught me something yesterday!
