Last week was Dinosaur Week at the Daycare and we did all sorts of fun activities that Emmy missed out on since she was sick. I decided to bring some of the leftover Dinosaur fossils home for them to break open. It is a super fun and easy recipe. You use 2 cups of sand, 2 cups of flour, 1 cup brewed coffee grounds and 1 cup of water. You mix all the ingredients together and then you knead it like bread dough until it is a playdough consistency. When your mixture is complete, you take small amounts and flatten them out like pancakes and put little plastic dinosaurs in the center you wrap the dinosaur up and form the substance into a rock shape then bake at 250 for 10 minutes, flip the rocks over and bake an additional 20 minutes. I let them cool and harden overnight and the children at the center were able to break them open with little plastic hammers or with their hands. Notice we are doing the activity on the floor--still no kitchen table =(
