Chad surprised me for my birthday this year by setting up a group date night. He ended up telling me before it happened, but it was still thoughtful. I decided that since mom was available to watch the girls I would just tell him when he got home from work Saturday that we were going on a surprise date night. Addison took this picture before we left for our date. She asked "Why do you need to go on a date if you are already married?"
In my head, we were going to drive over to Bloomington, eat a relaxing dinner at Biaggi's and then head over to the comedy club where we would laugh until our cheeks hurt.
What really happened, we called in reservations at Biaggis on our way to Bloomington, only to find out the wait time was at least 1 hour and fifteen minutes (at 5:30?), we decided to find a place to eat in the downtown area near the comedy club so we could be sure to get tickets for the 8:00 show. We chose a place called Elroy's that served Diet Rite (uuuuuuhhhhhhccccckkkk), french fries that tasted like fish, and a wrap that I am pretty sure was made while someone was smoking a cigarette because that is what it tasted like. We laughed it off and walked around a little until it was time to go purchase our tickets. We went to the comedy show where there were three groups attending bachelorette parties. If you are with a group of your friends and you are celebrating one of your friends getting married, and you have been drinking heavily then everything is funny even if it isn't funny. They will want you to write wedding night advice on a napkin and they will wear man parts on their foreheads. Fast forward to three comedians one of whom gave the groups condoms for their scavenger hunt, the second comedian actually told them to be quiet while he was talking, and the third comedian ran out of material so he started asking them when they were getting married etc. Not the evening that I had in mind but it was still nice to enjoy each other's company and get out for a little bit. I do know one thing--it is an evening that we won't forget for a while.
