One more thing...
At my job, everything is never done. When you are caring for eight infants under the age of 10 months, someone always needs something and usually it is at the same time. Well being the organizer that I am, I have the babies tracked on two charts in my room so that we can try to stay ahead of their needs ex. when they should need to eat next, when they need to sleep, when they will need changed again if they don't have a BM before that. We have it down to a science, I can feed a baby and bounce two babies with my feet at the same time and move on to the next. Well, the only problem with having it all figured out is that we get Standards every few years that get updated based on the latest "trend". So they are crackin down this year and saying that no infant can sleep in a swing or a bouncy seat--which we all know is what newborns love to do. All of my sweet little babies who are used to getting swaddled and rocked and then put in a vibrating seat or a swing that is continuous motion have to sleep in their cribs facing upward and possibly without a blanket. So even if a baby is playing in the swing and falls asleep, we have to move them! I COMPLETELY understand the scare of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and why the standards are constantly being revised, but from my point of view as well as the parents in my room, they aren't going to sleep. Which makes for a VERY long day for all of us. Crabby babies=Crabby moms! Most parents do what works for them at home and expect us to continue that while the child is in our care. So wish me luck, and please yell the next time you see me because I won't be able to hear anymore! Happy Wednesday!
